Amelia is one of the best-looking booking plugins for WordPress. That is not an exaggeration: the interface is polished, the booking process is smooth, and the support for both appointments and events makes it a versatile choice. With more than 80,000 active installations and an average rating of 4.4 stars, it is clear that Amelia does a lot right.
But there is a "but". Amelia is built as an appointment and events system. It is not a business platform. If you want to manage customer relationships alongside bookings, automate marketing, and need industry-specific workflows, you hit the limits. And that is exactly where NoveuFlow is different.
Amelia: what do you get?
Amelia offers three plans:
- Starter, $49/year: 1 staff member, basic bookings, no Google Calendar sync
- Standard, $99/year: unlimited staff, Calendar sync, WooCommerce, coupons
- Pro, $249/year: events, custom fields, webhooks, recurring bookings
- Developer (Elite), $798/year: unlimited sites, all features
Amelia's strong point is the combination of appointments and events in one plugin. If you run a yoga studio that offers both private sessions and group classes, this is ideal. The booking widget is visually appealing with a step-by-step wizard that guides customers through the process.
- Other strong points:
- Modern UI: Amelia looks professional, both for the customer and in the dashboard
- Event management: Group events with ticket sales and participant limits
- Zoom/Google Meet integration: Automatic video links for online appointments
- Multilingual: Support for multiple languages in the booking widget
NoveuFlow: from appointments to business platform
NoveuFlow starts at the same point, online appointment scheduling, but the ambition is different. Where Amelia focuses on the booking process, NoveuFlow focuses on the complete customer experience: from first contact to returning customer.
- Built-in CRM: Every customer profile shows booking history, notes, tags, and communications. You do not just know when a customer visited, but also why, what was discussed, and when to best follow up.
- Marketing automation: Automatic reminders, post-appointment follow-ups, campaigns for inactive customers, and seasonal offers. No separate marketing plugin needed.
- Sector templates: 15+ industries with customised labels, workflows, and navigation. A garage sees something completely different from a beauty salon.
- Customer portal: Customers log in and see their appointments, history, and invoices. They can reschedule or send messages themselves.
- The plans:
- Free: online bookings, customer management and a calendar for one staff member
- Starter: everything in Free + customer portal, staff schedules and waitlist
- Pro: everything in Starter + SMS and WhatsApp reminders, marketing, reports and online payments
- Business: everything in Pro + CRM and leads, inventory, multi-location and priority support
- Enterprise: everything in Business + white-label, open API and webhooks, franchise and premium support
What each plan costs per month is on the pricing page.

Price comparison
Let us work through two scenarios.
Scenario 1: Solo professional
You are a self-employed physiotherapist. You want online bookings, calendar sync, and SMS reminders.
- Amelia Standard: $99/year = approx. EUR 90/year = EUR 7.50/month
- NoveuFlow Free: free for the basics, or Pro with SMS reminders (see pricing)
For a solo professional who mainly needs bookings, Amelia Standard is an affordable option. NoveuFlow Free covers the basics for free, but for SMS reminders you need Pro.
Scenario 2: Service business with 5 staff members
You run a garage with 5 mechanics. You want online bookings, reminders, customer management with vehicle history, and you want to automatically remind inactive customers about their annual vehicle inspection.
- With Amelia:
- Amelia Pro: $249/year = approx. EUR 225/year = EUR 19/month
- But: no CRM, so you also need: Jetpack CRM or FluentCRM (approx. EUR 100-200/year)
- No industry customisations, no customer portal with history
- Effective cost: EUR 27-35/month with limited integration between systems
- With NoveuFlow:
- NoveuFlow Pro: see pricing
- Including customer management with customer history, industry labels ("Work Orders", "Vehicles"), automatic inspection reminders, customer portal
The functionality gap is large. With Amelia plus a separate CRM, you have two systems that do not seamlessly work together. With NoveuFlow, you have one system where the appointment, the customer, and the follow-up are connected.
Where Amelia is better
To be fair: Amelia has a few clear strong points.
Events. If you regularly organise group events (workshops, group classes, seminars), Amelia's event system is excellent. Ticket sales, participant limits, waiting lists, and recurring events: it is all there. NoveuFlow is primarily built for one-on-one and one-to-many appointments, not for large-scale events.
Booking widget design. Amelia's booking widget is visually one of the best on the market. The step-by-step wizard, the animations, the responsive layout: it makes a great first impression on customers. NoveuFlow's widget is functional and clean, but less visually striking.
Annual licence. Amelia uses annual licences instead of monthly subscriptions. For those who prefer to pay a fixed amount per year, this can be more attractive.
Zoom/Google Meet. The video calling integration in Amelia is very well implemented. Automatic links, buffer time between appointments, and calendar synchronisation work seamlessly together.
Where NoveuFlow is better
CRM as a foundation. This is the biggest difference. Amelia records bookings. NoveuFlow manages customer relationships. In Amelia, you know that Mr Jansen has an appointment at 14:00 on Tuesday. In NoveuFlow, you know that Mr Jansen is a returning customer who visits 3 times a year, had an issue with his invoice last time, and needs his annual vehicle inspection next month.
Marketing automation. After an appointment, you want to follow up. A thank-you email, a review request, a reminder for the next appointment. With Amelia, you need a separate plugin for that. With NoveuFlow, it is built in: automated flows that you can configure per industry.
Industry-specific. A garage is not a yoga studio. The labels, the workflows, the way you communicate with customers: everything is different. NoveuFlow recognises that and adapts. Amelia offers a generic interface that you have to customise yourself.
Self-hosted with control. Both plugins run on your own WordPress server, so in both cases the data is yours. But NoveuFlow goes a step further with explicit GDPR tools: per-customer data export, deletion request handling, and a privacy dashboard.
The verdict
- Choose Amelia if:
- You need a combination of appointments and group events
- A visually appealing booking widget is important to you
- You already have a separate CRM system that works well
- You have many online appointments via Zoom or Google Meet
- You prefer an annual licence over a monthly subscription
- Choose NoveuFlow if:
- You run a service business where customer relationships are just as important as appointments
- You want CRM, bookings and marketing in one system without separate plugins
- You need industry-specific labels and workflows
- You want to offer customers a portal with their complete history
- You want to automatically follow up with inactive customers
- You are a European business that needs iDEAL without a WooCommerce workaround
